When to use ANOVA?

1) Can I use ANOVA to compare the mean expression levels of one target
gene these situation:
a. Different time points?
b. Different growth phases?
c. In different organs/tissues?

Ong, see below:

You can use repeated measures ANOVA. Another option is to perform trend analysis.
b. Different growth phases?
You can use 1-way ANOVA with post tests. If experiments are based on multiple genes PCA, clustering and SOM are preferred since they account for correlation between the genes’ expressions.
c. In different organs/tissues?
Same as “b”
Several ANOVA models will soon be available in GenEx. Interested users may contact us on: beta@multid.se to obtain beta versions with ANOVA. Trend models we start to incorporate in autumn.

Good luck!
