Which to analyze RQ or log2(RQ)?

Postby Fancy Nancy » Mon Jun 17, 2013 11:52 pm

Hello,

I have calculated relative quantities to the mean of my controls but the data for some of my genes violate assumptions of an ANOVA, even if I do a log2 transformation. So I was planning to analyze the data using non-parametric tests. Do I run the analyses on the RQ (untransformed) or do I still run the non-parametric test on the log2 transformed data?

Thanks!

Non parametric tests are scale independent. You obtain the same result when analyzing RQ and log(RQ). You can check this easily with GenEx (www.tataa.com)
